Multimedia concert, 70 min.
Premiere in Savoy Theatre, Helsinki, 2004.
Performed also in Belgium, Germany, Austria and Portugal.
Animator, described as a multimedia concert, is a strong audiovisual performance that combines the unique sound of Kimmo Pohjonen and the multimedia of Marita Liulia. Both are produced during the concert as a live performance. The lighting design by Mikki Kunttu and the live video mixing by Antti Kuivalainen add to the multimedia nature of the work.
The musical talent and originality of Kimmo Pohjonen, combined with his stage charisma, have made him an internationally acknowledged composer and performer. The basis for his music are the new dimensions created with electronics from the accordion and the human voice. Pohjonen is known for his collaboration with e.g. The Kronos Quartet. He has also composed film music.
The first collaboration of Pohjonen and Liulia was the 18-hour Manipulator (2001) at the Kiasma Theatre in Helsinki during the ARS 01 exhibition.
The latest collaboration of Liulia and Pohjonen is the Accordion Man (2008), a combination of music video and animation.
